KyaiHaji Mohammad Hasyim Asy'ari, bagian belakangnya juga sering dieja Asy'ari atau Ashari, lahir 10 April 1875 (24 Dzulqaidah 1287H) dan wafat pada 25 Juli 1947; dimakamkan di Tebu Ireng, Jombang, adalah pendiri Nahdlatul Ulama, organisasi massa Islam yang terbesar di Indonesia. Riwayat Keluarga KH Hasyim Asy'ari adalah putra ketiga dari 11 bersaudara. Ayahnya bernama KiaiAbdullah Faqih, adalah salah satu tokoh sentral dari kalangan pesantren yang ikut menggempur Belanda pada serangan 10 November 1945. "His activities in building NU and instill nationalism among his students have made him a respected cleric," he said.
